AffiliateSecure.com was founded by a group of affiliates who were determined to find a way to protect affiliates. Over the last 10 years affiliate programs in the gambling industry have evolved and have improved their over all system; the manner in which stats are provided and how they manage their affiliates. Although some affiliate programs may claim this problem does not exist or they have never heard of it, there is a present threat among affiliates called Shaving.

The most common form of shaving is to delete a player from the stats of an affiliate program, so it appears as if the player never signed up through the referral link of an affiliate. This may occur:
- When a user/player deposits a big amount of money at one time or over a longer period of time.
- When the affiliate is on a high commission deal.
-When the operator goes around a medium or small affiliate who refers a big player.

Shaving also happens when a program diminishes the amount paid to the affiliates by claiming a percentage for ambiguous fees such as "costs for maintaining network". When these fees are mentioned on the Terms and Conditions page we call it "passive shaving", when you can’t find them in the T&C’s we call it "active shaving". This method is more severe because the affiliate remains unaware of these actions.

The main reason to create AffiliateSecure.com was to let all our fellow affiliates know about the malpractice of shaving and how to prevent it! Our goal is to distinguish which affiliate programs play fair and which programs chose not to, essentially a background check before an affiliate in the gaming industry decides which program to join. Our work saves you time and the risk of losing your affiliate program. Time, because testing is time-consuming. And a risk, because if you test your stats the wrong way -by signing up family members for example- you might get banned by your affiliate program.
